United Methodist Clergy Rally to Support for Marriage Equality
United Methodists from across the United States will gather to affirm their support for marriage equality. The event will celebrate clergy who affirm they will offer the Church’s blessing to all couples. Currently, the United Methodist Church prohibits clergy from performing weddings and recognizing same-gender couples. Friday’s rally will thank the more than 1,200 United Methodists who have already pledged to fulfill their ordination vows to minister to all people and issue a call for more United Methodists to pledge to support marriage equality. Organizers hope to double the number of United Methodists who have pledged to support all couples.
